LIVE LIFE LEUKEMIA PART 2

Many get a diagnosis of cancer or some illness with a time attached to it.  While my parents were given slim odds that did not deter them from encouraging me to live a child’s life.

The following summer after diagnosis, while still on chemo, I joined the neighborhood swim team.  Practices were early in the morning and meets were at night so I was out of the sun.  My brother and I often road our bikes to the pool.  I loved riding my bike.  I will never forget the one day I was to go in for a treatment and decided to ride my bike down the big hill by our home, I had on flip flops.  I lost my footing and used my leg to stop me on this cement hill.  Yes, it was bad.  Both my parents were nervous about my doc seeing me that way.  But all was well…they cleaned it up and I was never allowed to ride my bike wearing flip flops again…boy did I stick to that rule!!  Then, that fall my Dad coached my  soccer team.  I played halfback and goalie.  Many complained to my parents that I shouldn’t play such positions.  But my parents stood up to them and said that I wanted to …and I did!  I was very clumsy from the chemo but I did my best and I remember my dad working with me despite his busyness with work.

AND I BEAT THE ODDS ABOVE AND BEYOND ANYTHING THEY EVER EXPECTED!

Here is my encouragement …LIVE LIFE where you are….do what you can and don’t dwell on the things you can’t.  Don’t think about the time you have left but live life to the fullest today!!  God is going to bring us all home someday …be ready but don’t dwell on death.

He has you here for a reason.  Seek it out.

God Bless!!
